Vehicals for airsoft games?

Postby m4sherman » Sat Jun 15, 2013 5:55 am

Alright well airsoft is dead in okinawa so all I really have to do Is A:get drunk B:look on the internet and C: save monies. well after about three weeks and a couple of six packs worth of research I am working on the possibility of getting a Small russian APC (BDRM2 or MAYBE at BTR60) for use when I get back in the states. Now the question I have is depending on how other ventures work out how far would yall travel and how much would you be willing to pay to go to a semi annual air-soft event with a mount town and an APC.

My thinking is it would be a 2 day event with camping a night fights along with specialized objectives that involve moving large AT weapons into place along with supply runs.

Now take it that this will tank more than a year or two to implement because my ass still has two years on my contract (thought that may get cut short) plus the time to get the equipment. give me your two cents below and please be honest because either way I am getting the APC but I need to see what your honest opinions are on the rest of the venture.

P.S ideas are welcome

That is pretty hard core. how much would one of those things cost?

Also are you saying that we would take this thing to fields and play with it? LOL I can see the looks on people's faces when we roll over the hill in that monster XD.

Lol yea it is looking somewhere between 12 and 25k but who knows. I was acctually talking about getting a new feild set up but if I get the BDRM it will be made street legal so it may be possible to tank this to other feilds

Well I have actually set up a new field myself in the Memphis area, right now I am kinda co-sharing the profits with the land owner but hopefully if this takes off I will be looking to buy some land for a permanent airsoft field.

stuff finnally about how big is the field? needless to say it will need to be big for if we want to use this on it. anyhow if we endup with a permanent field it may be well worth it to build an actually concrete mount town because those things are a blast

The field is currently 30 acres, it has a road running through it so it would be possible but not used to it's full potential. Like I said though, this is just kinda to get us by until this takes off, I would love to own my own land some day to solely dedicate it to airsoft. Check out the Blackwater Marsh topic and the facebook page, videos and pictures are coming soon. I am also working on a site and forums for the field/teams in the area. I want to get a up to date site going that isn't mostly dead :/.

Sounds awesome. To say the least.

Bad karma in Nashville is 100 acres and when I went there was about 700-800 people. There were different areas with different "towns." The roads between them not enough to handle one of those though. I'd say if you want to run a huge airsoft place someday with Irl structures and roads for vehicles you'd need atleast around 200 acres. That'd be amazing. You'd want it somewhere close to civilization so enough people would come out to make it worth while. Like I said bad karma was outside of Nashville. There are plenty of places that have Irl buildings across the country that are used for airsoft. Most are long road trips and for milsim teams. It would be awesomely amazing to get a real good one, and especially of the magnitude your thinking, near the memphis area.

You really don't need that much land to do that, just enough open space to run roads. The property Blackwater marsh has a road running through a good bit of it. It really just depends on how you set up the field and how you run things. 100 acres would be insane for anything less than 700-800 people, we played on around 80 in MS with about 20 people and we could never find each other.

Well for what Im thinking of this will be more of a slow paced two day event....as in actual objectives, camping and patrols. The biggest problem I am having is with the land as I used to have a place to start something like this but it is slowly getting encroached by civilization so the price for renting it will probably go up soon. anywho I need more input and ideas as right now the only thing set in stone is the BDRM2

Also once we get over this cleaning kick in the shop (and maybe have out gear fixed) and am going to try and build a HMG that will probably fire paint ball markers sometime over the next year but that one is a hell of a project

IT is probably going to be based off an M2 but I was thinking paint balls as an intimidation factor so it gets used more like an HMG rather than an assault rifle. Also it will probably be in a series of field dedicated weapons that are used for different objectives such as.

Team A moves Light anti-tank weapon into place to ambush convoy while team 2 tries to escort vehical.

Team A must set up, and resupply HMG that is being used to protect bunker from enemy assault.

Team A must protect mortar emplacements from team B while the retrieve ammo for their mortars.

All of these things will require a specilized type of ammo that also packs enough punch to make the other team fear them. Also for use against vehicles (AT Guns) it provides a way to confirm the hit for the mortars and AT weapons they will need specialized rounds that are really friggen (10-30lbs) so one guy can haul a stuff ton of ammo

example

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPG-9

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0XLvlthXSs (but bigger)

also the SPG would have a not firing on INF unless I make special "shotgun" BB rounds. and the HMG would have a very specialized set of rules if used against infantry

I hope this has not been covered already, but after watching a couple of video's where trucks and pickups where being used I started to wonder how useful they would be in the larger games that are held up in Canada.
