Umarex MP5 built by G&G... Is a lipo ok?

Postby Blueghostsyl » Thu Dec 01, 2011 11:07 am

This MP5 has a retractable stock, plus a slightly smaller hand grip that has 3 attachment rails. There is VERY limited battery space. I know that LiPos are made to be smaller without sacrificing any output, so I got a 7.4v 1600 mAH LiPo battery, which is small enough to (barely) fit in the hand grip. I then heard from one of my buddies that G&Gs are not LiPo ready. Taking into account that this is only a 7.4v LiPo, I am wondering if there will still be a significant increase on gearbox wear. The FPS with this battery is about 360, and the gun is advertised at 350 fps.

I wouldn't worry at all about a 7.4V lipo, they are supposed to put out about what a regular 9.6v would.

You should be fine. As he said ^ it's pretty much the same as 9.6.

7.4v lipos put out a SLIGHTLY less powerful charge, but they hold steady at say... 20c discharge the whole time. Use it, just dont go to 11.1v unless you've reinforced it
