Gear box loop(?)

Postby GuyL61 » Wed Dec 12, 2012 1:34 pm

I have a Ver 2 gearbox that came out of an MP5 and I've rebuilt it for a Dboys Scar (changed nozzle and selector plate, upgraded spring and shimmed). Problem is there is a "loop" on the front of the gearbox. Never paid any attention to it before but now I see MOST of them have it. Does it really serve a purpose? it's hitting the mag release block in the lower receiver and won't install correctly...my big question is can it be ground off without any ill effects?

Normally the mag release has a rod that goes through this loop. Are you sure that it is being assembled correctly? I am unfamiliar with how Scar's are assembled, but I'd assume it is similar to an M4.

I will have to double check that!

I know the loop you are talking about. I just did a build for a guy that had one. His GB cracked as well replaced with CA V2. We ended up removing the loop.
