Sniper rifle FPS limits

I think even if we did drop the fps, the MED should be 50 feet. It's just not logical to have a 100ft MED. A f400fps aeg has way more energy at 10 than a 550fps rifle at 50 feet.

100ft is always a best guess, noone has a tape measure.

Most people can't judge distances very well, much less in a combat-wannabe enviroment. So always error on the side of safety.

The purpose or joy of a sniper rifle is the ability to shoot more accurately. Now that isn't always the case, more so if you don't build your gun correctly.

But I can say that my aps2sv at 550~ fps was waaaay more accurate than my mc51 hybrid with extended barrel was at 480-490fps. Any day of the week.

Since I haven't been active in the sport in a long time. This might have changed. But I doubt it.

Not to mention that, if played properly. Your target should never see the sniper. They should be hit, before they have a chance to react. Unlike the sewing machine aegs.

I always thought I was in the matrix, with my mad bb dodging skrillz! (grins)

Anyway, the point is to stay safe and have fun. If you think that a sniper rifle should be used for an assault type role or a "I win" gun. Then you need to rethink your opinion.

This sport does not have the distance or accuracy of real steel. You can try to make connections from sport to reality all day, but the simple fact is that your shooting a plastic ball out of a smoothbore.

If you can't play with the sniper under the 550fps/100ft rule. You'd be much happier with a 400fps m16a2+6.01 barrel and a cmag.
