I have to agree with the BAR10...Friend got one and had no problem getting a lot of kills with it....stock...it is upgradeable with VSR parts like the others have posted, comes with a scope and is in your price range.

I'm going to tell you what I tell everyone else, kid. Start with an AEG. Just because you play alot of Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, and whatnot, doesn't mean that you're going to be some kind of awesome uber-1337 sniper in the real world. There's alot more to it than there is in most video games (though some games do have some nifty little realism features, but that's irrelevant).
Bottom line is, you're better off getting something like an M16 or G3 and trying out the DMR role for awhile. If you're patient enough for a scoped assault rifle, then maybe you'll like sniping. If not, then you still have yourself a fully-auto capable rifle for regular use.
