Hop-Up Nub Designs?

Postby BravoLion1 » Tue May 11, 2010 7:52 pm

What would be The most practical or useful design for a Hop-up nub for a bolt action sniper shooting around 450-480fps with a .30g bb? If anybody has experience with making nubs or has ideas on making nubs im interested!

I'm curious because I don't know any bolt action snipers that use a nub, what rifle is it for?

Matthias, Ive got the new version of the CA M24 that uses a hop-up similar to the PDI hop-up used on a Maruzen T96, like what vulrath said. It also uses a nub like an AEG hop-up.

Of course, I forgot about that system. To answer the question:

I like to use hard materials. In my modded vsr arm I use a hardened putty of sorts, that leads to very consistent results for me with the 9 ball rubber. As far as shape, mine is flat as opposed to original H design, but your results may differ.

True, i was thinking about using metal or really hard plastic maybe even wood but mainly i was seeing if there were superior designs (shapes) that would make it more stable in flight or more accurate.

I'd say thats just trial and error, people swear by H nubs, others by just the normal U shape. Try it out for yourself, they're nubs, not too hard to make :D

I would suggest you don't go too hard on your nub design. Think small and easy. Accidents aren't likely to occur, but to be on the face side... I would use hard plastic or hard putty. I use putty myself actually.

Building up glue would work well too.

Or if you can find a small tube of plastic or something would be ideal.

For shape, I would suggest the concave SCS shape.
