Hi-cap vs. Mid-cap

Postby Oven Gnome » Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:07 pm

Ive heard alot of people say good stuff about mid-caps but not alot of good stuff about hi-caps. I have a very good hi-cap that has not let me down! I thought about getting some mid-caps but I wasnt sure... I like hi-caps because sometimes, I get trigger happy :D but sometimes the mags unwind and the noise gets very anoying. Ive never used mid-caps, but they will help me to not be trigger happy and waste bbs, and they dont unwind (or shouldnt) and make no rattling noise. Any comments/ smart remarks?

P.S. The hi-cap that is amazing is the mag that comes with the G&G Combat Machine M-16 Carbine. AMAZING!!!

BOX MAGS FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol

High-cap=lots of ammo, rattles, needs to be wound

Mid-caps=less ammo, no rattle, feeds well, realism, cheaper, more are needed for trigger happiness :P

there is my opinion

I've heard good things about G&G mags in general, especially ones for their M-series rifles (M4, M16, etc.). KWA also makes some damn fine metal midcap mags.

But the reason I ONLY use midcaps is because hicaps make too much noise (BBs rattling inside the reservoir), the winding also makes noise (and the winding itself irritates me), and what's the point in carrying 1,000+ rounds in a magazine? These are supposed to be replicas, not Daisy BB guns. Additionally, the majority of highcaps I've used are just unreliable. That about sums up why I don't use hicaps.

Yes, Mag midcaps are good. So are G&P. That's what I've used for my MP5 midcaps.

5000 round boxmags.

I like to shoot alot. I dont play airsoft to look good, I play to win. When there are not mag restrictions then I'm going to have the best advantage to get the job done. As far as noise it really doesn't matter. AEG Noise is about the same, if not the more so that BB rattling. If you are trying to be quiet with a full auto AEG then good luck.

Now dont get me wrong. When there are mag restrictions then I'll use a midcap, but having a 5000 round boxmag allows you to hold around 16 times more than a highcap and around 40 times more than a midcap. I usually to carry around 16(I lose a box a year).

Don't mean to spam your thread josh, but on the WE M4, redwolf says they will not ship it to the US, and it is out of stock at airsoft extreme.

I am fairly sure they did ban it, however there is a identical custom model that is legal.

Mids!, all big games require them, also Hi-caps have a tendency to fail when you need them the most.

Midcaps-reliable,cheep,durable and only 1 moving part-8-9 bucks
Hicaps-unreliable,clunky,noisy, unreliable and unrealistic -20-30 bucks
Enemy hears you rattling accross the field due to highcaps...priceless

"Changing Mag!"

Ahh...there's nothing like it. I don't know about you guys, but half the reason I run only-mids is because of reloading.

There's an art to reloading the AEG as soon as it's dryfiring. I like to say I've got it down.

BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM-POP-

Reload.

BAMBAMBAM...

Something I don't see mentioned here is weight. You'd be surprised how much 5-or-so highcaps will weigh you down, or what a fully loaded Box/Drum can add to your gun in weight.

Definately a proud Midcap user, here.

But if for whatever reason I wanted to use a different magazine type, I'd go all out and get a box/drum. Screw the middleman.
