Side EOTech

Picture taken from Boston big picture, this is an officer during a drug raid. The side EOTech caught my eye-
How would one use a setup like this? The top scope would be used normally, but the side mounted optics would have to be aimed high and to the left. I guess you would just have to compensate?

This is just a guess but I bet its for when they drop to the ground to shoot under something (a car) like in the MagPul videos then they have it mounted on the side instead of on top. This is just a guess though but that's the first thing that came to mind...

Its a back up optic for when he cant use that big scope on the top of his AR. People use small sights like Docters and Micro Aimpoints for the purpose, although I have always seen them at about a 45 degree angle, with a special mount off of the rails. I have even seen an EO Tech quadrant sight replacement for a 203. Funny looking thing.

would work perfectly fine no worse then any other normal mounting option.

It's for use with DMR's... Large Optics aren't good for close up shots.

On top of that he wouldn't likely need to compensate or aim any differently so long as the side optic was adjustable, which the EOTech is. All you do is sight in the EOTech just like you would normally.
