ATACS (the original) isn't really meant for woodland play. From what a friend says, it looks like dusty concrete. Plus, with all that brown and grey, it's really geared more for urban AOs than woods.
ATACS FG looks cool, sort of, but it's being jokingly called "Endor-cam" by a friend of mine, and I agree. But, I'm not knocking it's effectiveness. I honestly don't know how it will work.
I mostly use Multicam in this area. The problem with MC is, to be a truly effective CAMOUFLAGE you need MC gear. It's one of those patterns that doesn't look right and isn't dramatically less effective if you aren't running an MC rig.
MARPAT (or digital woodland as it's technically called since most of what airsofters use doesn't have the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor in it that true MARPAT has) works really well in deep forests from spring until fall. Once fall hits, I'd switch over.
All that said, these are my opinions and experience. I used to take the stealthy approach and rely on not being seen. Now I take a more aggressive role, and camo itself isn't quite as important. I am by no means an expert, so take from this what you will, and use what you like.
