Greetings!
JOIN the 100th year Annversary of a real military exercise.

Operations Pine Plains
DATE: November 7-9, 2008

Operation Pine Plains History:

In 1908, Brigadier General Frederick Dent Grant, son of General Ulysses S. Grant, was sent here with 2,000 regulars and 8,000 militia. He found Pine Plains to be an ideal place to train troops. The following year money was allocated to purchase the land and summer training continued here through the years. The camp's first introduction to the national spotlight came in 1935 when the largest peacetime maneuvers were held on Pine Plains and surrounding farm lands.

Thirty-six thousand, five hundred soldiers came from throughout the Northeast to take part in the exercise. For 36 hours, young men from offices, factories, and farms marched, attacked and defended in tactical exercises on the 100-miles the Army had leased for its war games.

In honor of this 100 year anniversary, we present Operation Pine Plains – Climb to Glory 2008. Once again, young men and women from offices, factories, and farms will march, attack and defend during an 18 hour Military Simulation (MILSIM)/Airsoft competition at the Fort Drum MOUT Collective Training Facility (CTF).

Major Bucciarelli (US Army, Retired) has been working with the folks at Fort Drum, New York for almost six months to coordinate a premier MILSIM/Airsoft competitive event in the Northeast. He has finally received approval to allow us to use the Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) Collective Training Facility (CTF) - this is a fully instrumented, active duty military urban training facility. We will be putting Operation Pine Plains together. I apologize for the short notice, but with real world deployments we had to work with what they gave us - obviously their mission takes the highest priority.

Operation Pine Plains - Climb to Glory 2008 will rock your MILSIM world! Don't procrastinate on this one - sign up NOW and please post this to other forums.

Operation Pine Plains Scenario:

Two opposing factions within the community seek to gain dominance over the population.

On Saturday from 1500- 1700 units move into their command posts located in buildings 12 & 13 in the MOUT CTF. Command posts are off limits to opposing forces. Command posts will be used as “respawn” areas to regenerate and remission squad sized units. Command posts are the entry points for all resupply activities.

On Saturday at 1600 sniper teams (two per side) move into the MOUT CTF.

Operation Pine Plains STARTEX at 1700 Saturday.

Buildings will be assigned point values. Each team must develop a tactical strategy to acquire buildings and hold them until the end of the game. High value objectives – such as simulated dignitaries and treasure – will also be designated and assigned point values. High value objectives must be secured and held until the end of the game. High value objectives are not allowed to be moved to the command post. At the end of the game scores will be tallied and a winner determined.

The “medic rule” will be used to maintain unit integrity, provide a fluid tactical scenario and reinforce squad tactical fire and maneuver. Each squad will have two medics designated, one per fire team. When a player is “hit”, a medic can regenerate the “wounded” player after one minute. If a medic is “hit”, another medic can regenerate the “wounded” medic after one minute or another player can regenerate the “wounded” medic after five minutes. If an entire squad is “wounded”, they must move as a squad to their respective command post to be regenerated after 10 minutes and then remissioned or get a medic from another squad to regenerate “wounded” personnel at one minute per player and 5 minutes per medic. A red flag designates wounded players.

Physical contact between participants is prohibited.

No role players are planned for this operation. Operation Pine Plains is a force-on-force, objective-oriented, 18-hour tactical simulation.

A cease fire will be called for 0200-0600 Sunday at the MOUT CTF. Each team will hold positions and rest. Special missions will be conducted during this period. These “special missions” will be squad sized reconnaissance and retrieval operations.

Operation Pine Plains ENDEX at 1100 Sunday.

Update on MOUT site:

Check out new photos of the MOUT site added to the MSATO.org website.

You can see this is an up to date MOUT training location. Take a look at the at the houses and how they are set up for training. If you have watched news footage from Iraq you might see the similarities to real house with walls and around them.

Don't miss out on this GREAT opportunity to train and play at this location. You may never get this chance again, well unless you join the 10th Mountain.

Registration will be opening Oct 5th. Full payment due by Oct 22nd.

Get organized into squads with your buddies and save money on registration fee.

Gentlemen,

I invite you to join us at Operation Pine Plains. I'm sorry for the short notice, but it is what the Army gave us to work with.

Operation Pine Plains is a force-on-force, objective oriented, 18 hour continuous tactical simulation at one of the US Army's premier urban training facilities. There will be 8 hours of professionally run MOUT training for all attendees. I say professional because it won't be "veteran" airsofters doing the training but actual US Army trainers. Ten total, most E7 through E9!

Please join us on our website for more information!

http://oppineplains.chairsoft.net/

And please, spread the word around!
