If anyone else locally is heading that way Ive found flights out of Charlotte into Ft. Hood for 204 bucks total (of course if yall find anything cheaper let a chalkey know 
). Sure as hell beats another 20 hour or more drive to texas.

When I went last time I flew to Waco, TX then rented a car into Wellington (i believe thats its). That town is the closest civilization to Ft Hood and the place to stay since they dont let you stay on base. The Best Western there is great and good prices. Waco is about a hour drive from Ft Hood.

From Birmingham, AL to Waco, Tx was about $550 but that is because John Lu changed the date about a month before and I had to change my ticket. In all the trip cost about $1100 total for one man. Not bad considering the event cost, hotel, ticket and car rental.

Jesus!!! Im camping on site and my flight in is 204 bucks, hopefuly i can get one of the generous soles driving up to pick me up at the airport and thats me eating canned tuna every meal. Im on a budget. Me + student + car owner + home owner = broke.
if I have 300 dollars in it (not counting gear and ammo) then thats a lot of money to me, im getting by as cheaply as possible.
