Back yard shooting

Postby GhostSniper » Sat Feb 06, 2010 6:22 pm

Well while I'm waiting for my friends to get their gear and all to come in I am just wanting to shoot in the back yard at so targets but my parents think i will shoot through the wooden privacy fence. Can this happen?

If you're in an area where a privacy fence is necessary in the first place, then chances are shooting your guns in your back yard at all is a bad idea. But to answer your question, whether or not an airsoft gun will shoot through a fence depends on the power of the airsoft gun, the weight of BBs used, and the density and material of the fence itself. Basic physics, y'know.

I dont think it should matter that dang bb would have to be going really fast to shoot through wood chances are the bb will break apart before going through the wood , you should be fine unless it like huge gaps in the fence

I cannot imagine a bb going through a wooden fence. However, there's a good chance it'll leave lots of divets and dimples in the wood itself, depending on the density of the material.

As pointed out above, shooting in backyards can be a bit dicey. But as long as you stay in your yard and don't run down the street brandishing your weapon (or pointing it at the mailman!), you should be fine.

Id have to agree with big red, I really dont see an airsoft gun going through a wooden fence any time soon. Id worry more about keeping that orange tip on and not flashing your guns around the streets of your neighborhood like an idiot. If you are really worried about stuff going through and hitting your neighbors yards you can always put something up behind the target.

Just make sure there are not any knots in the wood that have fallen out, for they leave a mighty large hole for which you could accidentally shoot your neighbor
Or your friend next door

I would even go to your neighbors and tell them that you have an airsoft gun, and explain the concept to them a little. That way, when they see you with it, they know what is going on.
