XM2010 Sniper Rifle

Here is the link to the new rifle system that the Army is purchasing. No word on the Marines getting this rifle, however in the photo you will notice Marines are using the rifle, so it will more than likely happen for the Marines as well.

Slow news day.

In the pic I think they are using the current rifle. Notice the barrel.


So they are converting the current stock of M-24's from 7.62 x 51mm (30-06) to 300 Winchester Mag. Changing the optics, and stock, and barrel. So basically just keeping the action.

Other than weight way not just issue everybody M82's?

if you read tactical weapons they already covered what was then the remington MSR (modular sniper rifle) With its interchangable barrels and side folding stock

No worries man, more information the better. The article i linked to was just the offical release saying they signed the contract to do it. What will be more interesting to see is the new scope being developed by the darpa project. Which they reference when talking about the rifle.
