82 people and counting on the facebook page....
borscope said in the past we typically get two times the amount that say they are going on the facebook page...
if that holds true for this op we will be near the 200 people mark. which will be a personal best for dead end, heck if just the people that are saying they are going show up will still be a personal best for dead end.
So come on out and and help support your local field... I'd say by Sunday night Monday morning we will have the General Rules & Knowledge for the op posted once its posted you will be expected to read it and know it as general knowledge for the op, there will not be a general briefing at the the op only individual team briefings.
Sign up is easy you can either hit up the event page on facebook, that i linked in the original post, or drive up to parafrog and sign the sign up sheet if your not into the facebook thing.
A few requirements with no exceptions...
This event is a FULL SEAL GOGGLE EVENT. (nothing else will pass goggle check)
You must bring 1 black shirt and 1 OD/TAN shirt for team identification (please don't be confused and just bring one or the other cause you may get thrown on the opposite team of the shirt you choose to bring so save us all the trouble and just have both).
You must bring a bright red deathrag (not only for death identification, but for your safety)
Please note, and i know it has been stated before. the BANG BANG rule is dead for this event to reduce confusion. YOUR MED (minimum engagement distances APPLY)
What does this mean? all fps numbers are with .25 bb's
If you have a gun less than 376 Rifleman class you may shoot from 10ft away within that you may NOT shoot. You can tap them with the end of your barrel or pull a knife and tap them to simulate a knife kill. NO EXCEPTIONS if you shoot someone within your MED you will be asked to leave on the counter side of this if you spin and shoot at someone within your 10ft MED even startled you will be asked to leave,(if your coming up on someone and your 10+ away just single shot them (or a quick trigger discipline) its simple and will reduce confusion.
If you have a Support Weapons less than 400 you may shoot from 50ft away within that you may NOT shoot. You will need to pull a sidearm or secondary with the smaller 10ft med, and follow the above rules regarding the rifleman class.
if you have a gun less than 536 Sniper Class you may shoot from 100ft away within that you may NOT shoot. You will need to pull a sidearm or secondary with the smaller 10ft MED, and follow the above rules regarding the rifleman class.
in simple terms... If you happen across someone the chances you will be within 10ft without seeing them in advance are rare, if they are within 10ft simulate a knife kill with a barrel touch or cold steel training knife... If not and your outside of your MED then just single shot them or quick trigger discipline. This will drastically reduce the bang bang confusion, and or nix the arguing about who said bang bang first or multiple bang bang scenarios. Keep in mind if you shoot within your MED specially the 10ft one, or if you get startled and you turn and fire within your MED, you will be asked to leave. If you've been startled you just need to sum it up that you were caught off guard and take it as a hit. REMEMBER THIS GAME IS ABOUT SPORTSMANSHIP AND HONOR. No arguing, especially with REFS and/or Game Admins.
Lets use the golden rule for a moment as it will apply in this situation... Treat others as you would want to be treated... So if you walk up on someone think would I want to be hit this close with my gun... if the answer is NO back up until you would feel comfortable being shot with your own gun. If a situation occurs the REFS may ask you the above question... if you say you would be comfortable with it... (we may take your gun and shoot you with it from that distance to see your reaction before making a judgement call (not really, but THINK)... SO THINK before you react. Even shot at 10ft away from 376 fps is going to sting... it goes away quickly and after all that's why we play this sport, to shoot people, if you can't handle it then this sport isn't for you.
//update//
donovan got something to my attention and the following will be stated in the detailed breif... rules in the town will be a bit different than normal... TAP TAP on the side of a window or doorway WILL NOT count/clear as a grenade at this event and again bang bang rule is gone... All your normal MED's will apply for your classes 10ft med for rifleman 50ft for support and 100ft for sniper classes (no full auto). The exception is when clearing a building... the rifleman class has a few options to clear a bulding... switch to semi auto and may engage less than 10ft / pull a pistol (semi auto) and can clear less than 10ft / melee TAP (no stab or jab may use cold steel or similar knife or barrel TAP no stab or jab) / Approved Grenade. Support Class & Sniper Class must pull a secondary that falls into rifleman class semi auto only to clear less than 10ft / pull a pistol (semi only) / melee TAP as described above / Approved grenade.
in other words, if you don't want to get shot closer than 10ft stay out of buildings or let someone else clear the building for you.
just to lesson confusion even more im going to tell you what qualifies as full seal goggles as far as we are concerned... a full seal goggle is any eye pro that has a full seal around the eye by foam or rubber, and is ansi rated /w a retention strap around the back. Flakjaks / ESS / or similar goggle are recommended. We are okay with the vents being removed from flakjaks or foam from ess or similar goggles. Wiley X sg-1 or similar are acceptable if they have a foam seal and retention strap around the back. Bobster foamerz 2 are acceptable if you attach a retention strap to the back that firmly fits against the back of your head to prevent slippage. Paintball mask are also approved. They do make paintball mask that have mesh and other various mesh mask that cover the eyes, if you wear safety / shooting glasses under them and the mask can still form a seal around your eyes they are acceptable however you will not be allowed to remove your mask on the field.
Things that are not approved for this event... Regular shooting glasses / safety glasses, mesh / stamped steel goggles or glasses.
Please come prepared in case your goggles do not pass inspection.
If you have any thing you have questions about please comment up we will take a look at them and give you a decision.
