Regional Top Gun Airsoft Tournament Interest

Postby Erakus1999 » Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:32 pm

Think your the best of the best? Come prove it!!!!

Action Hobby and MWR Ft. Campbell is looking at hosting a regional Airsoft tournament for teams and single players. Paintball tournaments have been held in the past, now its time for AirSoft. Looking to gauge interest in this type of event. Here is how it is looking to be broken down:

Ages limits: NONE
Cost: $20.00 each whether single event participants OR team members; $25.00 each for entry into both single and team events.
Single Events: Pistol and Rifle (distance shooting at stationary, Pop-up, and moving targets. 3 Rounds scored with playoff for ties) 1st and 2nd place engraved plaques with individual names.
Team Events: Gets tricky here. 4 members minimum. Teams with more than 4 can enter, but only can play against equal number of opponents. If opponents do not have but 4, your team will be cut to 4 for that round. Two rounds played against an opponent who has the same objectives as you. First round will be to move as many objects into a designated area from your starting point as possible within an allotted amount of time as you try to prevent your opponent from doing the same. Points scored based on scenario completion. Second round will be to collect as many objects as possible from an area within an allotted amount of time as you try to prevent your opponent from doing the same. Playoff style eliminations for tie scores. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place team engraved plaques will be awarded.

Cost includes field fee, entry into single OR team OR both events, lunch, event T-Shirt, and a raffle ticket for various prizes. All proceeds will go towards Ft. Campbell wounded soldiers fund at Ft. Campbell.

Looking at a Saturday in March 2010 for this event.

What being looked at for the raffle? Regional / National restaurant chain gift cards, Wal-Mart gift cards, gun cases, BB's, AEG's

FPS limits: Team Events will have 2 classes; UNDER 400fps with 0.25's and OVER 400fps with 0.25's
Single Events: Pistol; any type (semi-auto only, stock sights only NO SCOPES)
Rifle; any type (semi-auto only, stock sights only NO SCOPES)

After events, there will be a MASSIVE WWI Trench Warfare game played on the field with the Allies vs. Germans

PM if interested. Happy hunting!

I hate competitions really, "May the best man win" never does it for me.

But I'd be there for the Trench Warfare and to just be in the Airsoft Aroma :B

Just remember there is a fine line between doing a best tactics type tourney and a "paintball" style event. Its a slippery slope and many of us hope to not see airsoft turn that way.

Sounds like a few people have had a "bad experience" with tournaments. Let me put it to you this way:

1. Paintball is a quick, shoot, your dead sport with a 4 min time limit. They have yet to adopt a "respawn" strategy due to paint already on their clothes and the easiness of "cheating".
2. Paintball is a much faster paced sport than airsoft.
3. Most tournaments / competitions are played on a speedball, short field.
4. Limited # of REFs.

Here is what we are looking at:

1. A 15min game between 2 teams. Each team will be able to respawn until the time runs out.
2. Two DIFFERENT scenarios that will be scored so that team tactics / communication will help more than "hot guns".
3. Both teams have the same objective so that there is no advantage on either side.
4. Scenarios will be played on a short field (4 acres) and a large field (30 acres).
5. At LEAST 4 REF's per game to call "hits", respawning, and objective completion.

I understand not everyone has 4 friends to play the team competition, but there will be individual events. Show what YOU got in those events. Its only you against the targets. Shooting ability, time, and skill are what will help you.
Most fields host games with only 2 teams; black against green. Your team may win some, lose some. The only problem is that you never know who is going to show up and be on "your team". You will always wind up with someone who is killed often, someone who never "gets into the thick of it", someone who "thinks they're Rambo", someone who is "too cheap to shoot BB's", etc... Does everyone still have fun? YES!! But who really won the battle? Which person / persons were key to getting the job done? Wouldn't it be nice to know? Well here is your chance to prove that YOU / YOUR TEAM are what changed the tide of battle. Why not be recognized / have bragging rights to prove it? Why not see how you stack up against "those other people"? Worried about being outgunned? That's why there will be 2 classes. Remember, its all going to be for a good cause and hopefully will allow you to play against new people. Here's how we'll be looking to break down the day:

Gates open: 8am (check-in, field waivers, safety briefing, field walk, event information)
Team round 1 begins: 9pm (small field first, 15min time limit, scored objectives)
10min break for REF scoring / Field Reset
Individual Stationary targets: 12pm - 1pm (scored by hits at various distances, 5min time limit to engage targets)
Lunch for all (included with registration), Raffle drawings
Individual Pop-up targets / moving targets: 1pm - 2pm (scored by hits at various distances, timed)
Team round 2 begins: 2pm (large field, 15min time limit, scored objectives)
10min break for REF scoring / Field Reset
Whole Group games: 1pm Alamo style base defense (30min time limit, on large field)
5pm WWI Trench type scenario (50min time limit)
Awards: Around 6:30pm (plaques will have to be mailed due to engraving)

Bragging rights for individuals and teams for the whole year!!!!!

Sounds good. Just have to get a team set up. (you probably don't know my name so, I was at the last two airsoft events at Ft. Campbell. I had a JG G3, but now I have an AGM MP44)
KWA MP7A1
KWA USP .45

H&K, Not a single compromise since 1949
