in the opening of the first scenario Manakari's government forces were the first to make a deal with warlord pedro goldstien for free passage thru his territory. thus gaining 500 points. unfortunatly government forces did not move fast enough. It was another 5 to 10 minutes before the rebels bartered a deal to let them pass through. it was during this time that government forces could have hit the rebel camp and took out the scientist working on the bio agent rather easily.(worth 250points) but it did not happen.
The rebels however were able to successfully fight their way into town and steal a missile from the armory ( 1000 points ). though they were supported by Goldstiens warriors (in exchange for stealing the gold from the bank in town). although goldstein seized the missile as it came thru his land until his demand was met. The rebels also kept the scientist safe earning another 250 pts.
Toward the end of scenario 1 manakari was striking a deal via comms with goldstien to help him fight off the rebels when the fog of war set in. One of manakari's commanders had sent an assasin to kill pedro. But the assasin's greed got the best of him. he tried to capture pedro by grabbing onto pedro and holding a grenade out yelling (if anyone shoots me he dies). his plans were to ask for more gold for the live goldstein. unfortunatly for him pedro's very skilled warriors got his attention rattled and R1's trickey grabbed his hand so he could not release the grenade and exacuted him with a shot to the head via .45 (priceless/ should have seen it /text book perfect. lol ) so needless to say that betrayel blew the deal with manakari.
So at the end of scenario 1 the government forces had been awarded 500 pts for bartering free passage they were also awarded 500 pts for a player violation by the rebels.
The rebel forces had earned 1000 pts for stealing the missle. another 250 for protecting their scientist. and 500 for deals w/ goldstein. but were penalized 500pts for player violation.
Leaving the totals at Government 1000points Rebels 1250points.
Scenario 2. here's where it took on a real life of its on. the rebels had a missile but no payload the bio agent had been stolen by goldstiens greedy nephew carlos (spook)
The rebels were tasked with retrieving it and the code to arm it (which was in town at the scientist's home) in the fog of war the rebel leader Bilbo sent forces successfully into the town but never went for the bio agent. learning where carlos had hid the weapon pedro and a small number of his men retrieved it. planning to sell it to the either side. The government had also struck a deal with pedro to feed the rebels some false information.
Here's where it got sinister. as pedro's band of men topped the ridge line they could hear a
envoy of manakari trying to strike a deal with rebel forces for a truce to kill goldstein and his men. so goldstien and his men entered the rebel base through a back entrance surrounded the unsuspecting rebels and drove them from their base without firing a shot. Pedro readied his men (R1) to fight both sides from the rebel base. He recieved a message from Carlos that the force was moving to attack in large numbers. pedro's men waited but the attack never came. Appearantly the truce dissintegrated at the top of the ridgeline and the rebels withdrew. So the government forces withdrew to protect the capitol. At this point Goldstien in anger attacked the city in a move to release the bio weapon on both factions. although Goldstein was killed his men released the agent and ended the game.
at this point the government forces had gotten 500points for holding the city. but failed to take out the missile or bio agent and also did not evac manakari in time to avoid being killed by the bio weapon.
I never recieved confirmation that the rebels accomplished any objectives in the second scenario. We also did not plan for the turn of events that put goldstiens forces on the offensive.
So at the end of the day government had 1500 points and rebels had 1250 points.
the government side had great props and bribery swag, but were not as aggressive as the rebel side.
The rebel side were really not prepared for the scenario side of things but fought very aggressively.
And as in real conflicts it got very treacherous and political. ending with an outcome none of us planned for. For many it was the first taste of this kind of game which is typical of bigger ops. The heat was trying but you guy's hung in there. It was very cool to see how many really were digging into the whole character thing. spook and schoolboy did fantastic. its impossible to type everything that happened here. lets just say it was a day of many firsts at highpoint.
Till next time Dog out.
