Panadora's Box went off extremely well, and safely for a night game with zero minimum engagement distances. Here are a few of the things we did to ensure the safest enviroment possible:
We supplied the guns. Springer shotguns shooting 250 FPS or so. Cheap to buy and came with shell type magazines and tac lights, great for night game.
The "live" players started with no weapons. They had to make their way to a ranger's station to find guns. SURPRISE! Not as many guns as there were players, better have a buddy!
"Live" players were tagged with two glowsticks taped to their body. Both glowsticks get snatched, you are a zombie.
This game went over extremly well, and enjoyed by all. There were minor gripes about the close quarter shots, but no injuries to speak of. I was more concerned with people running and twisting an ankle than the weapons we supplied.
This scenario can be done, but think it out, and err on the side of safety.
Look for Pandora's Box II later this year..............
