Operation Cash Crop
A timed mission.
Attacking U.N. Force Scenario:
There has been a recent military coup in a small, southeast Asian country, the rebels have taken over and being strapped for funds to purchase additional weapons with, have begun growing poppy plants in the jungle as a cash crop. As of yet, they have only (4) fields planted. Green Force, a U.N. mandated strike unit, will covertly enter the country and make its way to the growing area. They will then seek out and destroy each and every “cash crop” field. Though fully expected to defend themselves as necessary, their primary task is the destruction of all of the heavily guarded “cash” crops. Per his discretion, the Green Force commander may keep his unit intact and destroy each and every field individually and in turn, or, he may split his unit into smaller “independent” strike sections so that multiple fields can be taken out together.
This is a timed mission. Suggested time limit, 2 hours.
Green Force will win when ALL cash crop fields have been eliminated (and within the allotted time.)
Green Force will loose if, #1, they are all eliminated before every field can be destroyed, #2, they fail to destroy ALL of the cash crop fields BEFORE the allotted time expires.
Opposing Rebel Force Scenario.
As the bloody winners in the recent military coup, the victorious Red Force leaders know that they cannot hope to hold onto the reins of power without more and better weapons. As the war torn country is dirt poor, they have found themselves with no ready supply of hard, cold cash with which to purchase such weapons and munitions—but then they do have one potentially valuable asset—drugs. And they have planted four such large “cash crop” fields deep within the jungle. As soon as those crops are ready, they will be harvested and sold out-country for more than enough money to purchase all of the weapons and military supplies that they will need to retain their iron-fisted control.
Red Force’s task is merely to protect those fields. The loss of one, two, or even three will not cause them undue grief, but at least ONE field MUST remain safe until the end of the agreed upon time limit has expired. The Red Force leader may protect his fields with any means necessary, he may put a guard or guards at every field, he may split his main unit into smaller sections to protect one or many fields at the same time, he may use a “baited” field as an ambush site in an attempt to lure in and destroy any enemy attempting to attack the fields, he may create “roving” patrols that sweep the trails between the fields to keep out potential enemies. The protection of his fields are at HIS discretion.
Red Force will win if, by the time the operation’s time limit expires there is at least ONE field intact, OR, if before all fields are destroyed—all attacking (Green Force) units are killed or captured.
Red Force will lose if ALL four fields are destroyed BEFORE the time limit expires.
Special Note: Opposing Force (Red Force) will need approximately a five to ten minute head start on the playing field to simulate already being in country and near their guard areas.
Scenario props needed:
A. (4) metal pails or buckets (one for each field) filled with sand where smoke grenades can be put by attacking forces (Green Force) to simulate burning the “cash crops.”
B. At least (4) smoke grenades or smoke-type firecrackers, or some other way to simulate burning plants.
C. A five to ten acre, wooded playing field with several paths/trails/roads cut through it.
Walkie Talkies or two way radios would be VERY helpful for both teams.
