Currently in production and slated for release in November 2010, the famous 1984 movie "Red Dawn" is being remade, obviously adjusted for the current era. In the new version, the Soviet invasion has been replaced with a Chinese invasion.

I think this would make a interesting scenario for Airsoft / Mil-Sim gameplay. Conglomerated US forces consisting of US military, local militia, and freedom fighting citizens against the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Not really a fan of them doing a remake of an already great movie, but if this sparks some interest in airsoft, look's like the PLA gear will come in handy

Ugh. I'm not too excited about that.
I understand that they can't (shouldnt) remake the Soviet invasion, but BECAUSE of that I think they should scrap the whole thing altogether.
As an airsoft scenario, though. I'm down.

They will never replace Patrick Swayze as Jed. Patrick....rest in peace mate.
Doing the movie with the Chinese makes no sense. Why? Because the Chinese lack the aerial capability to carry out the invasion the Russians did. They have no bases in South/Central America.
That said, writer Eric L. Harry did a couple of books depicting a Chinese rise to supremacy and a Chinese amphibious invasion of the Southern US, through the Gulf of Mexico. The US was greatly weakened through economics and piss-poor politics. Protect and Defend was one novel, Invasion the other. They are probably available at a good used book store.

Dude, if we are doing China vs. US, I think there would be better scenarios. I am down with whatever, but I agree with what most people are saying. What about doing a 24-style commando raid (yes, I am obviously a big fan of Jack Bauer and 24)? Or securing oil interests a la Battlefield 2?
