The Second Battle of Fallujah *Update*

Postby RCPD S.T.A.R.S » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:20 pm

*This Operation is based on TRUE EVENTS*

The second battle of Fallujah, Operation Al-Fajr(Arabic for "The Dawn") and Operation Phantom Fury-was a joint U.S.-Iraqi-British offensive in November and December 2004, considered the highest point of conflict in Fallujah during the Iraq War. It was led by the U.S. Marine Corps against the Iraqi Insurgency Stronghold of the city of Fallujah and was authorized by the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Interim Government. The U.S. Military called it "some of the heaviest urban combat U.S. Marines have been involved in since the battle of H'ue City in Vietnam in 1968."

This the second major operation in Fallujah. Earlier, in April 2004, Coalition Forces fought The First Battle of Fallujah in order to capture or kill insurgent elements considered responsible for the deaths of a Blackwater Security Team. When Coalition Gorces( Majority being USMC) fought into the center of the city, the Iraqi Government required that the city's controll be transfered to a Iraqi-Run local security force, Which then began stock pileing weapons and building complex defenses across the citu in mid 2004. This was the most bloodiest battle of the IraqWar to date, and is notable for being the first major engagement of the IraqWar fought soley against insurgents rather than for forces of the former Baathist Iraqi Gobernment.

Ground operations began on the night of November 7, 2004. Attacking from the west and south, The Iraqi 36th Commando Battalion with their U.S. Army Special Forces advisers and the U.S. Marine Corps Scout Platoon, 2nd Tank Battalion and 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, reinforced by Bravo Company from the Marine Corps Reserve's 1st Battalion, 23rd Regiment, and supported by Combat Service Support Company 113, from Combat Service Support Battalion 1, captured Fallujah General Hospital and villages opposite the Euphrates River along Fallujah's western edge.[25] Troops from the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines fired 81mm mortar in an operation in south Fallujah. The same unit, operating under the command of the U.S. Army III Corps, then moved to the western approaches to the city and secured the Jurf Kas Sukr Bridge.[25] These initial attacks, however, were a diversion intended to distract and confuse the insurgents holding the city.

After Navy Seabees from NMCB-23 at the substation located just northeast of the city shut off electrical power to the city, two Marine Regimental Combat Teams, the Regimental Combat Team 1 (RCT-1) and Regimental Combat Team 7 (RCT-7) launched an attack along the northern edge of the city. They were assisted by two U.S. Army heavy battalion-sized units, the 2nd Battalion, 7 Cavalry Regiment, and 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment (Mechanized). These two battalions were followed by four infantry battalions who were tasked with clearing the remaining buildings. The Army's mechanized Second Brigade, First Cavalry Division, augmented by the Marine's Second Reconnaissance Battalion and, for a few days, the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment [Stryker], was tasked to surround the city.[26] The British Black Watch Battalion patrolled the main highways to the east. The RCT's were augmented by three 6-man SEAL Sniper Teams from Naval Special Warfare Task Group-Central and one Platoon from 1st Recon who provided advance reconnaissance and overwatch throughout the operation.

The six battalions of Army, Marine and Iraqi forces, moving under the cover of darkness, began the assault in the early hours of November 8, 2004 prepared by an intense artillery barrage and air attack. This was followed by an attack on the main train station that was then used as a staging point for follow-on forces. By that afternoon, under the protection of intense air cover, Marines entered the Hay Naib al-Dubat and al-Naziza districts. The Marines were followed in by the Navy Seabees of NMCB-4 and NMCB-23 who bulldozed the streets clear of debris from the bombardment that morning. Shortly after nightfall on November 9, 2004, Marines had reportedly reached Phase Line Fran at Highway 10 in the center of the city.

The 3rd Bn 5th Marines cleared the Northern Sector Highway 10 city blocks of infiltrated pockets of resistance. Some units deemed combat ineffective handed clearing operations to Darkhorse Marines. 3/5 spearheaded the assault into the harshest area of the city known as the 'Julan District.' The Battalion sustained 26 Marines killed in action and 353 wounded during the operation.

Teams: USMC/Allies
Insurgents

Objectives: USMC- You have to push your way around Fallujah and make it to the "Julan District"(last push))

Insurgents- Hold the positions at all cost against the americans!!

Locations:#1 Fallujah Genral Hospital
#2 Jurf Kas Sukr Bridge
#3 Small Fallujah village
#4 Phase line Fran at highway 10 (center of the city)
#5 Julan District

Objective: The U.S./Allied Forces has to "Push" from location to location till the final stand at "Julan District".
The Insurgents have to hold each point without letting the Americans get to "Julan District"

The Concept: There will be insurgins at every point and to every point in misc. builings/structures will be set insurgins for ambush/surprise attacks(gives it that realistic feel to it) so that the Americans dont just have to go staight for things they have to search every inch of their givin location to take before they make a move because it could be their last! After the Americans/Allies take a point the insurgins from that area move to the next and set up for the Americans to come through, and so on and so fourth.....

Respawns: Americans:have a medic, the medic can heal you in place 1 time per Location by putting tape or cloth around your arm, after that he must escort you back to the respawn point saftley.

If an insurgin and hit, you must go to next location and wait for the next Push to begin.

thnx for reading and i ENCOURAGE YOU TO COMMENT!!!

Spell check. Everyone's thinking it that's read it....

Thinks for putting a pretty face on a push game. I can think of a couple tweaks to be made.

For starters, this definitely needs to take place in an urban field, or an insanely large field. What I'd do: Allow insurgents to be placed in buildings other than the PUSH locations. (Each PUSH is an objective you must reach to earn your next spawn, not the only source of action) That way, you fight your way to the hospital, having to clear all the buildings along the way, or risk being shot from a "cleared" area.

Require American respawns to have a special medic rule (Medic must escort downed player to nearest respawn) You said there were 353 wounded. This will add a taste of that into the game, and make for a bit of a twist to the usual tag-in-and-go of the push game.

Hopefully someone from down at Dead End, or maybe Battlefield checks this part of the forums. I hear they have big fields. And in your background, there was info about a highway being watched by another force. Dead End has a road. Adds a second AO. Maybe Insurgents are getting some surprise reinforcements, if they can reach the Julan District alive.

Sounds cool I just can't think of a field that's appropriate to use with it

I don't think TN has a decent sized MOUT site that is readily available... I've heard of one in Alabama and another at Ft Knox, KY
