yeah the same thing happened down here to "milsim" when folks were really pushing it about a year and a half ago....within a few games it degenerated to people spending forum time and worse,paid game time, arguing over what was milsim,how others weren't milsim or milsim enough,how people weren't doing their "roles",and how the rules worked or didn't work.....eventually the milsim thing just kind of fell apart because no one could get behind a ruleset.
personally.....if you want milsim....go out with your friends drinking until 3..get home at 4...get up at 5....put on 70-80 lbs of gear and walk 15 miles....dig a hole... get in ....15 mins later,in the middle of eating, get out of the hole and walk,with gear, another 5 miles and dig another hole and get in...now it rains and fills the hole half full of water and mud...try to sleep in it...wake up at 12 and try and stay awake for 4 hours while imagining someone is out there trying to kill you...at 4 try to sleep again till 5..get out of the hole,with gear and walk another 10-15 miles....repeat process for weeks...interspersed with random explosions, ieds,snipers,etc.

this has the video i was talking about....WHAT??? no FORTS????.....no sniper towers in the middle of pallet walls???....
towns are great....though i would be happy just see a village of some kind put together...kinda like the set they used for every village in "Combat"...
once you get into NPCs you have to find a cadre of folks to play them...kinda tough depending on your area.. though everything from high school to college drama depts. to groupd like the SCA could be a source for NPCs.
