usage of a Medic

Postby medic! » Wed Jan 30, 2008 7:57 pm

I know some people hate the idea.But...here's my input.I think it would be reasonable if there were a few medics with fake blook soaked bandages and were clearly marked as a medic. If the other team shoots at or kills the medic then it should be fair game to shoot at medics. This will only work if the senario permits.I think it would add a whole new part to airsoft.Any comments or suggestions?

Other than that a lot of games at BK do involve medics, no, that's about it.

We did something like that at OP: Kudzu last year, I liked the rules, but the game itsself left a bit to be desired, amazing field though.

Just how realistic do want to get is the question you have to answer.

I've been visiting a site with a system based on the US Army's Robin Sage Special Forces exercise and it gets interesting, but it's not for your average game.

They use a deck of playing cards, levels of player and that sort of thing. You even draw a toughness card which tells the medic how strong you are (how much pain you can tolerate). If the medic can draw a card higher than your toughness card, then you survive and can be treated.

This system also uses a lot of other things that average games don't. You start as a basic rifleman, then advance. You can also have a specialty, such as medic, engineer, EOD, etc.

We use a "Medic" variant as part of our regular team games. You can check out the exact useage and rules by visiting our website!

The amount of realism you include for the medic should fit the level of the op.

We have basic trigger days where we simply practice tactics. If we use a medic, they simply lay a hand on the "injured" person's shoulder for a pre-determined amount of time.

For small ops involving a few teams, we've used 'medic ropes,' with knots that have to be untied. The ropes can be untied by any player, but take some time to untangle.

For larger ops, I would love to see something like tieing on armbands or, as you suggested, white bandages that mimic applying real medical help to someone in the field. Again, the purpose is to put someone out of the action for a certain amount of time.

Just my two cents worth.

Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the Military doesn't have that problem.
