Howdy Tri-cities, this is devildog/Kyle coming at you with some intel. I'm now a ref for TAS, (airsoft+paintball) and at the ref meeting/class we had some talk about airsoft. Something we've noticed is TAS being lax with the policies here. Here's your warning now: We are going to be more strict about the rules. While we have had some talk about new rules and stuff, but it's talk as of now. What concerns you airsofters as of right now are the following:
1. Shooting in the safe zones/staging areas. The picnic tables and the porch on the woods field is provided for everyone's equipment and for people to hang around and chat, it's not for target practice or loading your magazines (into your gun that is, you can put bb's in the magazine, as long as the magazine is completely out of the weapon) Consequences for shooting in the safe areas (anything before the netted entrance or chrono station) will be a one game sit out first offense, possible an entire day sit out for following offenses.
2. Goggles, we've seen it happen way to much, we've all done it as a noob at least once, but no more. No raising or removal of the goggles/mask period while on the playing field or in the chrono area. Not even to test your gun. Safety briefings will occur before and during the day, but first time you raise your goggles while on the field, you'll sit out one game. Period, I don't care if you are leading the charge, you're coming out at that moment. Goggles fogging up? Move around some, buy some no fog stuff.
3. Gun safety out of the field, paintballers have barrel socks and "plugs" which prevent the paintball from coming out past the barrel if fired. Airsofters don't have this for their guns at the time being, so the render safe policy coming off the field, is remove the magazine/clip/loading device, fire the gun 2-3 times to clear the chamber, and put the weapon on safe, and holster if applicable.
Consequences are issued by the airsoft (Spark and Danny) and TAS refferees, and if you don't like it, take it up with Wes or Josh.
We have to remember that regardless of liabilities, our safety standards reflect Wes Morrell and Josh Horne (owners of TAS) and the community as a whole. This isn't someone's backyard, it's an insured place of business that must abide by the rules.
