Navy combat medic

How do I become a Navy combat medic and what is there process of becoming one? What are the standards of becoming a Navy corpsmen? Do they go through navy boot and Marine training? How hard is it becoming a combat medic?

In the Navy the medics are called Hospital Corpsmen. You can enlist and let the recruiter know this is the field that you would like to go into. There is NO guarantee that you will be a combat medic unless you can get it on paper. Remember that, no matter what anyone says, if it's not on paper with a signature then it means NOTHING. Yes you go through Navy boot camp with everyone else and then you have Hospital Corpsman training afterwards. Then when you get to your first real station you will probably serve about 2 years doing the boring stuff. After that time you can request to be attached to a Marine or Army unit as a medic. You will train with the unit that you get attached to but you won't go through Marine or Army boot camp. I was in the Navy and let me tell you that I enjoyed every minute of it. Even boot camp is fun sometimes. If you are looking at joining and you are serious about it then I may be able to make a trip to Jackson and go to the recruiting office with you. the navy dooes not supply medical personel for the army....they have their own medics....as a corpsman you'll go through basic...then to A school for corpsman....after doing time in a fleet billet as a regular corpsman getting all you PQS's signed off...you then apply for transfer to FMF (fleet marine force)where ever you are...that will put you in with the marines .you will have to under go infantry training but you don't have to go through marine boot camp....as was stated you need to get everything in writing...everything...
