NEW "possible" mission/operation for Jackson Field

Postby Beowolff » Sat Dec 22, 2007 11:19 pm

yeah... as construction branches out at the field... my mind tends to LOOK ahead to possible upcoming missions/operations here. and yeah, i know that right now, we don't have all of this in place...heck, we may "never" have anything as grand as this daydream...lol. still, even with only a "part" of this, i think such a mission/series of missions and or a lengthy and or on-going operation might work well and be great fun. :D

here's what i've "dreamed" up so far, it's based "roughly" on how the Jackson Field is already laid out and soon-to-be constructions and planned future expansions. guys already familiar with the field will see that immediately, others may have some trouble getting their "heads" around it at first.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Circa=whenever (can be anytime...past, present...even future?)
Location=third world region (can be anywhere actually?)
Forces Involved=UN Military units versus the Enemy (whoever that might be?)

the UN has voted favorably on a "protective" mandate for a small, poor, Third World territory. UN military forces (mostly US as usual) quickly move into the Neutral territory and establish outposts and lay out a Patrol Zone seperating UN controlled areas from non-UN controlled areas. What follows is the Official Mandate and its directions of use:

1.) Police, protect and secure Neutral Indigenous populations/property/territory from Enemy Force takeover/encroachment. Maintain a vigilant “On Guard” presence and “Friendly” but No Nonsense attitude and posture.

2.) Hearts & Mind campaign to win over Neutral populations.

3.) Guard and secure UN personnel, equipment, assets against Enemy attack or threat.

4.) Enforce UN mandated Patrol Zone and prevent Enemy from crossing over and expanding into Neutral/UN territory.

1.) No Neutral person or Neutral person’s property shall be harmed by UN personnel OR Enemy Forces. Neutral territory must remain Neutral and firmly under approved UN jurisdiction/supervision. Enemy Force penetration and or encroachment must “not” be allowed. Use of “Deadly Force” is approved and authorized for local UN commanders to prevent and or contain/repulse any and or all such Enemy threats/attacks/penetrations.

2.) Neutral Indigenous peoples shall be treated with the utmost respect and courtesy at “ALL” times by “ALL” UN representatives, military and/or otherwise. UN military forces are hereby instructed to work closely with Indigenous peoples to develop and maintain a healthy “friendly” atmosphere of useful mutual trust and cooperation. Schools, places of worship and medical centers are to be established post haste inside Neutral territory.

3.) UN Service representatives (military and/or otherwise,) and all UN property and equipment, shall be both secured and protected from Enemy Forces at all times. The release and use of “Deadly Force” is duly authorized (under local UN commanders’ personal authority) to prevent and or interrupt any such attacks to UN Forces/property/equipment.

4.) UN Forces shall regularly patrol and defend the mandated UN Patrol Zone. The use of “Deadly Force” is authorized to enforce patrol rights, however, under “NO” circumstances are UN Forces to actively and or vigorously pursue and or engage Enemy Forces into and or across the LINE of PATROL!

WARNING! Read the above carefully! No UN Forces (military or otherwise) shall penetrate Enemy Force Patrol Zone lines nor operate inside Enemy Force territory! It is strictly forbidden!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as you can (hopefully) see from the map and read from the mandate directive... the UN has a pretty strong position inside the Neutral region...however, those positions are FIXED...which is a disadvantage.

Enemy Forces on the otherhand, have some "floating" or moveable/hideable assest...such as the weapons' cache and AAA site.

another BIG disadvantage for the UN Forces is that they also have their hands tied by the mandate itself...they can patrol/secure and defend against the Enemy...yet they are not supposed to actively and aggressively "go after" the enemy by crossing the UN Council-levied Patrol Zone...even though one of the Neutral villages (the Hamlet) they are supposed to "guard and protect" is clearly partly inside that "no-go" ZONE!

g'ah!

what's a commander to do in THAT situation?

yet the Enemy has NO rules...does NOT recognize the UN mandate...and can come and go as they please.

now everyone knows that usually the best defense against an enemy is a strong offense, yet what to do in this situation? should local UN commanders just strictly (and blindly) follow their mandated orders and stay inside their own region? or should they chance International outcry (and possible Court Marshal) by ignoring the "no-go" directive and aggressively attacking the Enemy ACROSS the PATROL ZONE.

(or maybe they should just do Black Ops and try and keep those little missions a big secret?) lol!

anyway...with a resourceful, imaginative Enemy commander...that can do as he wishes... i.e. strike at the UN CP, strike at the UN Fuel Depot, attack UN Bunker or OP, attack and or attempt takeover of Neutral hamlet and or village, attack UN patrols patrolling the UN PATROL ZONE, or any combination of the above... it could make for some VERY interesting missions for the field.

suggestions, comments, ideas....????

let me have 'em.

as i said, right now...this is just a "daydream" idea for the field. and a very "rough" one at that. (ok...who was that muttering about it being half-baked too! grrrr! :x ) but maybe we can eventually flesh this out into something workable and FUN!

PS...hmmm, for the UN Forces on the field and to simulate UN Command orders from some distant locale, how about a set of several pre-made Official Orders that could be randomly drawn from a box that tells the UN guys what their NEXT mission should be? ie Patrol the Zone. ie, work on a school. ie send patrol to repair radar dish. ie garrison UN bunker...etc, etc. part of Enemy Force's deal would be to recon the area and possibly thwart the UN's misson by ambush or to catch the UN Forces in one area while they attacked another. say Enemy spotters saw a UN force moving to garrison the Bunker...the Enemy commander could then either attack said UN force...or decide to blow the fuel dump. ?? if the fuel dump came under attack, the UN commander would "have" to change or adapt the assigned mission on the fly to counter that "different" threat. ??

ah, just a thought. may all be too complicated.

wow nice. if you can get me a good map of your field i can work out that one nuclear material one. also a good idea is to make all the buildings collapsible[as in on hinges] so you can have missions where you have to put the buildings together sorta.

Sounds like one of the missions we played at Empty Quiver.

Commo Bunker was being set up/ defended by most of the team. Two OP's (two and three man posts) And a five man patrol/ Mike Force

While most of Silent Ops was setting up the commo bunker.
The Silent Ops XO and myself we set up south of the trail going to the bunker. While team Black Jack was patroling up and down the main road and ready to respond as a MIKE FORCE. With Sons of Thunder set up north of the trail. All of us had radio contact. That was the key. But we still had a few Blue on Blue kills. OOPS. Thunder FLASH worked great.

We held our own even though we were out numbered 4-1. They got us but it took them awhile. Then when they got to the commo bunker the figured out real quick that they didn't get everybody.

We got beat by numbers not skill.

The world is starting to close in on a small area in the country of England. A Russian scientist found some kind of nuclear material, what exactly is unknown at this time. When he found it his Geiger counter broke from the radiation. The United Nations was informed as well as the United States. Special retrieval teams have been sent in from all over the world. The UN and UN are working together for now, it has been decided that the material will go to a facility in Sweden though. The Russians and Chinese don’t like this. Both have slowly increased troop movements, though we aren’t sure which one is moving into the area.

END transmission from Sweden to America

For UN/US forces [what’s read to them]

All right men, we’ve got work to do. Were hear to get A special nuclear material, it is extremely deadly, that’s why we have special crews. Each retrieval unit is comprised of five men. There are four who defend the one actually carrying the material. The Russian Scientist has packages the material in a small lunchbox oddly enough, so we don’t need extremely large containers. We have a special cooler for you though. You will have 2 teams of “retrievers” the rest will fan out and defend the area.

The five man retriever teams have some limitations men. Only one person can carry the container. Meaning that the one with the cooler can only use a pistol or maybe a shotgun is he’s lucky. The rest cannot touch the container. Only the retrieval units can even get close to the container, other will die if they get a few feet from it. As soon as a retrieval unit makes it to our base they need to be detoxed and the case cooled down. Anybody coming into the battle will have to go somewhere else. Only the five man team can be in the area. The rest can guard the area around the “detox hole”.

that isd very rough. i didn't know who ou wanted as an enemy and i didn't get the the map yet.

Hah! Make a village. We got ours way back in '97 for 1200. Haven't been in a while though.

In the middle of the village, put a little one story kill house lol
