What:
East Bloc Basic Warrior Course for Operation EASTWIND II.

When:
Oct 25 1100 - Oct 26 1100

Where:
AO – Near Fulton, Missouri.

How much:
30.00$USD – Covers instruction, accommodations and meals for 2 days! (Payment to be made at the event. See registration section below for details.)

Information:
In advance of Operation:EASTWIND II, we are hosting one of our East Bloc Basic Warrior Courses (BWC) to help get those people who are participating in EASTWIND II a chance to “get their feet wet” in the Eastwind waters (so to speak). This course is both challenging and informative and previous attendees have had nothing but good things to say about how the East Bloc Basic Warrior Course gave them a base of knowledge from which to operate during EASTWIND I.

The course will consist of instruction in a wide variety of topics with which the basic troop will find useful such as:

1. Basic Soviet Military Doctrine and Leadership Philosophy.
2. Basic Soviet Military Drill/Ceremony. (eg. How to form up, column movement, basic uniform wear/care)
3. Basic fighting positions, their construction and implementation.
4. Soviet style rations and mess procedures.
5. Personal Battle Equipment. (eg. Gear, what goes where, how to use it.)
6. Battle movement and formations. (eg. Squad movement and tactics).
7. Patrolling with your combat load. (eg. Load all the gear up and move out!)
8. Battle Drills. (eg. Movement to contact, assaulting, defending)
9. Soviet night vision equipment use and night fighting techniques.

What you will need.
While we would like everyone to have as much of their kit for EASTWIND II together and ready for the BWC, we do understand that not everyone has found everything yet, or maybe you’re that person who is “on the line” about doing the Soviet/Eastwind thing.

Those that have the correct East Bloc gear for EWII should bring that - those that do not but want to see what being an East Bloc Soldat is all about just need to make sure they have the below items.

Your usual airsofting gear plus:
Uniform of some type.
Black boots (no tennis shoes)
Sleeping bag or blanket.
Rain gear (poncho preferred)
Mess kit
Capacity to carry at least 2 liters of water. Camelback, canteens, whatever.
Knife
Flashlight
Pen and paper
Radio
Head cover (hat, helmet, bandanna etc)

This course is designed for both experience Eastwinders and Beginners alike. There will be something for everyone and even if you’ve attended a BWC in the past, we encourage you to come on out to this one. There’s been a lot of information added since last year and lots of “lessons learned” that will be applied to the new round of BWC/LLC’s.

This will also be a great opportunity to test out how well all your gear works. It’s always a good time when we hit the field. Learning and fun, the EASTWIND way!

Registration:
We need to know how many will be there so we can plan food and lodging needs.
To Register for the BWC, ebbwcreg@operationeastwind.com
Payment can be made at the BWC.

Operation Eastwind announces Leadership picks and a new kid on the “bloc”.

An army is only as good as the leadership it has. Operation:EASTWIND is no different. That’s why this year at Operation: EASTWIND II, both NATO and Soviet forces will be headed by leaders who can step up and fill their roles.

Starting off, the NATO forces will be led by James Keyser-Andre aka “Chip”. Chip brings a lot to the table when it comes to Eastwind. He served as NATO’s S3 last year at Operation:EASTWIND and this year will serve as the commanding officer of NATO forces in the field. Chip is an active member in Mid-Missouri Airsoft http://www.midmoairsoft.com.
Image

The Soviet side of things will be led by Matt Cardinale, aka “Cardz”. Cardz is a member of the St. Louis Airsoft Players http://stlouisairsoftplayers.com and has attended nearly every Soviet Training Operation as well as Eastwind I and other Eastwind related events. Last year, Cardz served as the East Bloc forces Intelligence Officer. He brings a zeal for the East Bloc side of things that is exactly what is needed from a commanding officer.

Operation: EASTWIND is a revolutionary idea for airsoft. It is literally airsoft and reenacting combined. The forces structure is no different. This year, East Bloc forces will once again be incorporating the “brothers in arms” concept and will have a dedicated unit of East German Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) troops in addition to the standard Russian troops. This group of dedicated troops will be headed by Steven Staggenborg aka “Stagg” of the Kansas City Airsoft Association http://www.kcairsoft.com. Stagg has “defected” to the East Bloc from his service to Eastwind last year as NATO’s Company 1st Sergeant. He made this decision because there was an opportunity to rise to a challenge on the East Bloc side. He also sees it as a good way to show people that the “roles” are not always set in stone. Stagg proves that the only player entrenched in any one role will be the one who is dug into a fighting position during those blustery days in March that we’re in the field.

Everyone wears different hats at different times in the execution of Operation:EASTWIND and this year will be no different. We look forward to seeing what Stagg can do in this new role and we know that he’ll be a great addition to the East Bloc. Regardless of the outcome, its certain that each of these three men will be tested in a wide variety of ways as they work to lead troops in the field. Most importantly, they’ll get tested the Eastwind way!

Full and Partial Term Registration is open for East Bloc Soldats.

Full Term is defined as all 9 days. If you are going to be there for less than the entire 9 days it is considered Partial Term.

Partial Term Soldats may split their time, if prearranged. Examples of this would be:
1) You can make it to the first weekend but cannot stay straight through to the following weekend but instead could come back on Thursday.
2) You have finals on Wednesday but can be there Saturday to Tuesday and then come back for Thursday muster in.

This must be prearranged and approved by East Wind II Administration. This is not a chance to go to a motel one night, just because. This is in order to facilitate your maximum attendance by working around real life.

To register, go to:
http://www.operationeastwind.com/index2.html
Scroll down to "Eastwind Registration" and click on East Bloc registration button.
