Not that any veteran airsofter would consider this, but I think it deserves a warning anyway.
I was in Walmart yesterday and happened across a Crosman item that could get someone SERIOUSLY hurt.
Crosman now has an item they call the M4-177. It's an M-4 PELLET GUN. It could EASILY be mistaken by a noob airsofter for an airsoft gun, when it is in fact NOT one. It looks like an Airsoft M-4, but it has NO ORANGE TIP, shoots 625 FPS and can shoot either .177 cal BBs OR pellets. The forward handguard is the pump.
It is entirely possible that a noob could bring one of these to an airsoft field, not realizing what he has. The box is poorly marked (IMO). I've been an airsofter for 12 yrs and I had to look twice to find the words 'airgun' rather than airsoft gun on the box.
The fact that the item has no orange tip is yet another danger. All of Crosman's AIRSOFT guns have orange tips. Why not their pellet guns? I hope this will alert everyone. If you see any of your friends considering on of these things, let them know it's not an airsoft gun.
