TM VSR-10 Gspec Internals Guide

Postby Katana » Wed Sep 26, 2007 5:38 pm

I decided to write this internal guide to inform people on how to disassemble/reassemble their TM VSR-10 Gspec rifles. If you find anything that I have done wrong, please comment! There will be a Microsoft Word version online soon. Hope it is useful for you!

Step 1: Gather the needed tools for the job before starting. Remember, while reassembling, Lube often!

Image

You will want to have:
• Screw Drivers (many different small ones)
• Allan Wrench
• Needle Nose Pliers (not necessary)
• Lubrication (100% silicone!)
• A Vice (if possible)

Step 2: Remove the Clip and turn the Hop Up completely off.

Image

Step 3: Unscrew the two screws on the stock. This requires an Allan Wrench.

Image

Step 4: Separate the Stock from the rest of the gun. Be easy on it, or else this part may fall off. Don’t worry, though, it’s easy to put back on.

Image

Step 5: Now we can remove the outer barrel. Unscrew this small screw. Now unscrew the outer barrel.

Image Image

Step 6: To access the Guide Stopper, we will first remove the trigger guard. Do this by unscrewing the large screw at the back of the guard, seen here.

Image

Step 7: Now pull down the Guide Stopper. The cylinder should now slide out freely.

Image Image

Step 8: If the cylinder has never been opened before, it will need to be drilled out. If it has been opened before, this drilling has already taken place. To open your cylinder, you will need a special tool. Since I don’t like to spend money on things that I’ll only use once, I developed a trick to open the cylinder with an Allan Wrench. Simply place the short end of the Allan Wrench in the small hole at the end of the cylinder, and use it as a lever to open, like this.

Image

Step 9: Now you will have access to your Piston Head, Spring, and Spring Guide, etc.

Step 10: Now, to access the hop up Chamber. First you will need to remove the Hop Up unit on the outer barrel. You can do this by removing these two screws.

Image

Step 11: Once removed, you will need to unscrew the tiny screw on the Hop Up adjustment lever, and remove the lever. Now your hop up chamber and inner barrel (one piece) should slide freely out of the end of the outer barrel.

Image

Step 12: To open the hop up chamber, you must remove these five screws. Do this by removing the solitary black screw in the middle first, the two black screws to the right second, then the last two third. The chamber should now pull apart.

Image Image

Step 13: You now have access to the Hop Up bucking and the inner barrel. To replace the bucking, you will first need to remove the old bucking. It should slide right off of the inner barrel. Now you will want to fit the groove of the new bucking to the groove of the inner barrel. Slide the new bucking onto the inner barrel.

Okay, here is the new addition to the post:

And here it is!
NOTE: The reassembly procedure (minus the trigger) continues at step 14 after the trigger guide, just as before.

Find the trigger unit and remove this screw.

After you remove the screw, take of the plastic trigger guard. Now you must remove the spring guide stopper (highlighted in red). To remove it you will probably need to use a screwdriver set the head on the little piece sticking out, now gently tap the screw driver with your hand or a hammer or something. Dont be afraid to use a bit of force.

After the spring guide stopper is out you will need to locate the two screws at opposite ends of the trigger unit and unscrew them, once you do the box should separate from the bolt area.

Now that you have the box out, you must remove these 5 screws, again, highlighted in red. (Note blue thing is the safety lever, it is best to remove this piece and the on top of it entirely during the process of taking apart the trigger)

Now after you have removed these screws, take of the right side of the box (side with the safety arm) Be careful as some springs may fly out, but if you have done it right you should see this:

Congratulations! You have successfully disassembled your trigger box, to reassemble, just follow these directions in reverse.

Now for my custom spring guide. I don't have any pictures of it being made but it is somewhat strait forward. (Also that was a brass nut, not washer, I made a typo in the picture)

Overall view:

Rear view:

Green: piece of an old nail used for the piece that the spring guide stopper hooks on to, I drilled a hole in the middle of the bolt and hammered the nail in, then rounded it with my trusty dremel.
Yellow: Rear of bolt
Purple: Washer, no, i didnt just glue it around the sides, that washer is glued to the one before it, which sits on the little "top" of the bolt, which it is also glued to. which is then glued to the washer, this thing is loaded with JB weld.

Well thats about it folks, any requests or questions about the guide and i will do my best to answer them.

Step 14: We will now begin the reassembly procedure. The first step is to place the inner barrel back into the chamber. Be sure to have the notch on the bucking facing upward. Take the top black piece (that you unscrewed first upon disassembly) and set it to the side. Now place the two ends of the chamber together. Once the chamber is back together, screw the screws back in. This time, I would start with the silver screws first.

Step 15: Now place the black plastic piece that you set aside into position on the chamber. Once in position, screw this screw in (right picture). Your hop up chamber is now reassembled.

Image Image

Step 16: Take chamber and insert it back into the outer barrel. Once in position, it should look like this.

Image

Step 17: Attach the Hop Up Adjustment lever, and screw its screw in like so.

Image

Step 18: Take the hop up Unit, and place in position over the barrel. Now screw the two screws in. The outer barrel is now reassembled.

Image

Step 19: Now we move on to the cylinder. Place the components back into the cylinder in the order that they came out. Now screw the cylinder head back in.

Step 20: Here’s a tricky step. You will now need to insert the cylinder back into the gun. Your obstacle is this (the left). While inserting the cylinder, you are going to push this toward the place that the outer barrel screws in (right picture). I usually use a small screwdriver to accomplish this. Be sure to have your Guide Stopper fully extended.

Image Image

Step 21: Now that your cylinder is in place, push the Guide Stopper in. Be sure that the small seal around where the barrel is screwed in is still in place. The cylinder is now reassembled completely.

Image

Step 22: Place the outer barrel over the end of the cylinder, and screw in. Now implant the small screw, and screw in. Your outer barrel is now completely reassembled.

Image Image

Step 23: The next step is to install the trigger guard. To do this, place the trigger guard here, and screw in.

Image

Step 24: Almost there! Place the stock of the gun like so. The two parts should now fit together perfectly. Flip over, and screw in these two screws with your Allen Wrench.

Image

Step 25: You are done! Enjoy that beautiful Gspec!
