Flakjak Review, by Beowolff

Okay, i recently ordered and recieved several pairs of low cost goggles (that i hoped) were suitable for gifts or loaners while playing Airsoft. Thanks to a friendly tip right here on this forum, I located the site selling them, placed the order, and got them a few days later. And as low cost...or rather "cheap" as their prices were, I was actually worried that I was ordering unsafe, unusable JUNK! So when they came in, I held my breath as I opened the package...again, expecting the worst.

Ha! So imagine my shock and wonderful surprise when I opened up the package and found BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL sturdy and well-made goggles inside!

Here's how they came out of the shipping box:

Image

Yeah, Flakjak name brand goggles...not knockoffs or rippoffs...but actual, full-bore name brand goggles. Good looking stuff!

They came in a very practical and attractive carrying/belt-case, of heavy duty tan or desert-colored canvas. Here's the case, front side.

Image

Here's the backside.

Image

Eagerly, I opened up the case to get a good look at the goods inside... Here's what I saw.

Image

Oh wow...was I happy! One look at these bad boys and I knew that I had the real McCoy---the real deal. An authentic pair of top quality Flakjak military grade goggles! :D

I inspected them further to make sure there were no blemishes or broken parts. Nada! Zip! Nothing! These goggles were first class all the way with no visibile defects anywhere. I tried them on, and easily adjusted them to fit my largish noggin...perfect. Vision thru them was perfect, no distortion, no fog, no discoloration---perfect in every way. And they felt good on my head and over my eyes. They have nice padding and the straps are fully adjustable and easy and quick to adjust and use.

These glasses use a patented "airflow" or "breathe" system to keep fresh air flowing in without letting in bad things---like dust, grit, 6mm BB pellets, etc. Very well made. Super, actually. Great design.

Here's another shot of them, this one shows how the carrier also has an "inner" pocket that carries your included (for free) dark lense. The darker lense is inside that white, cotton-like bag, to keep it clean and scratch free. By the way, I'm pretty sure that in a pinch, that soft, cotton bag can be used to clean your lenses with and then later taken out and washed along with your laundry.

Image

Here's a shot with the dark lense completely out.

Image

Here's a few glamor shots just to show you how they look with weapons.

Image

This is a particularly interesting one, the knife in the picture is a BlackJack blade...a superb knife, and a collector's item. So we have a BlackJack and a Flakjak together for maybe the first time! lol!

Image

Now, all of the above was mostly about the looks of these battle sexy goggles... but what about performance?

Again, these goggles use what's called a low-flow razor-back air filtering system...let's in fresh air to prevent fogging...yet blocks out dust and other bad things.

They have what's called a BFRFTM buckle management retention fastener, a sort of covered "quick release" to aid in very fast strap replacement.

They have a FlakJak exclusively made foam face seal...to be comfortable, and to wick away moisture, but also to keep bad things out.

They have what's called, Optiwide Geometry...they give you a VERY wide, excellent field of vision.

They have ballistic lense protection...both civilian high impact ratings "and" military certification ratings...supposedly resistant up to a .22 caliber, 17grain, type-2 simulating bullet fragment. And folks---this is GOOD STUFF! Shouldn't be any worry over a 6mm plastic BB getting through these glasses.

These are MANLY glasses---not for whimps or sissies... so they are large and may cause some slight problems with some types of headwear...but i wouldn't worry too much about it. I tried them with my old WW2 helmet, my Marine utility cap, my German field cap, and a couple of others...and they worked fine. However, I can't vouch for other types of headgear. Still, I wouldn't think or worry too much over that.

I also tried them with my reading glasses on...and they fit comfortably right over my eye glasses with no problems. Nor was my vision obstructed or distorted by using them that way.

Yeah, I bought these goggles for giveaways and spares...but guess what? I am so pleased and overwhelmed by their build and quality that I am REPLACING my much more EXPENSIVE goggles with them. Yeah.

Summation: Get these goggles! Heck, if you do, you'll feel like me---that you've just put one over on the man! For this price is a STEAL! 8)

I'm not kidding, after getting these goggles, I almost felt like I'd cheated somebody! D'oh!

By the way, I've heard from Skidude at Airsoft Revolutions... he too is VERY impressed with these goggles...so much so, that he is in the process of buying a large lot of them for resale locally. Well, that's a darned good idea...and since he's taking pre-orders---you guys that don't already have a pair can snap one up for even MORE savings!

Yes, from what I heard, for a limited time, while he's getting a pre-order together, you can grab a pair or two or three even cheaper than "I" did. Smart! Very smart. Ain't nothing better than saving money on a real good deal...a real quality item. So if you've been needing a nice set of high quality goggles, or simply need a great backup or spare set...or heck, even as a super gift for a friend---go on ahead and pre-order these goggles from him and save even more cash.

By ordering these goggles from AR...you'll be mainly helping yourself...first rate quality all the way...but also helping out a good, local guy that's trying his best to support the Tennessee and neighboring states' Airsoft experience. And saving yourself some "smart" bucks too all at the same time. The price is so low, a person should be able to find THAT much change lying about on the floor or under the couch! lol! How can you go wrong with that?

Great looking, super performance eye protection for chump change!

I hope you guys enjoyed this review. As all my other reviews, I'll keep it updated and let you know about any new developments.

Salute!

Beowolff

Well they are made to withstand high amounts of force on the lens, not fog up, and keep dust and unwanted stuff out...I suppose they would be multipurpose.

right you are... these are military grade goggles. the military does more than play airsoft with them. they use them in the dust, atop vehicles, inside vehicles, etc, etc... and no doubt the alpine trained troops use them for snow goggles too. anywhere they need high impact resistant, wind resistant, dust resistant eye protection.

so yeah...they could be used as snow goggles. or motorcycle goggles, or, whatever...
